Reiki is a delightfully simple form of hands-on healing.
Learning the art of Reiki takes us back to our natural state as healers. Everyone can learn to practise Reiki, even children. Incredibly gentle, incredibly potent, Reiki is very empowering. It means there is always something we can do for ourselves, for the people around us, for the animals and living things we care for. Immensely versatile, Reiki can be applied to all aspects of life, on a daily basis. |

Dr Mikao UsuiIt was Dr Mikao Usui who received and brought Usui Shiki Ryoho Reiki into use in Japan in the late 19th century, devoting his life to its practice and teaching from that point on. He initiated Dr Chujiro Hayashi, and named him as his successor.
Dr Chujiro HayashiDr Hayashi opened up clinics and developed the teaching of Reiki. His work came to the attention of Mrs Hawayo Takata, who insisted on being trained by him, although she was a westerner, being an American citizen.
Mrs Hawayo TakataBefore his own passing, Dr Hayashi initiated Mrs Takata as Reiki Master, granting her the role of purveyor of the knowledge of Reiki in the West, via her home in Hawaii.
Phyllis Lei FurumotoMrs Takata initiated 22 masters before her passing in 1980, including her grandaughter and student, Phyllis Lei Furumoto. Phyllis was recognised as the lineage bearer of Usui Shiki Ryoho, and has provided clear guidance for the continued teaching and practice of this simple method as it has spread across the globe.
