Reiki is a delightfully simple form of hands-on healing.
Learning the art of Reiki takes us back to our natural state as healers.
Everyone can learn to practise Reiki, even children.

Incredibly gentle, incredibly potent, Reiki is very empowering. It means there is always something we can do for ourselves, for the people around us, for the animals and living things we care for.

Immensely versatile, Reiki can be applied to all aspects of life, on a daily basis.

Training in Reiki not only enables us to treat ourselves and others, it is a catalyst on our journey towards self-knowledge and self-fulfilment, nurturing our intuition, expanding our life perspective and developing our wisdom.

Dr Usui stressed that Reiki is best used in a preventative manner, not to shed doubt on its effectiveness, but because it is better not to get sick in the first place. Reiki serves to maintain homeostasis, or perfect balance. In this respect, it is very useful to learn Reiki in order to be able to give oneself self-treatments regularly.

Reiki tends to promote awareness and healthy living within the practitioner. Quite often this is accompanied by an enthusiasm to share of this gift. Alongside developing their own Reiki practices, many of my students have gone on to develop new careers in the healing arts: from NLP, Hypnotherapy, Acupuncture, to Massage and Mindfulness.

Reiki bridges the gap of time and space, and t
raining at Second Degree brings with it knowledge of the Reiki symbols and how to use these, both within a treatment and to direct the energy from a distance. Reiki can also be used to clear spaces, such as your workplace or home, filling these with positive vibration and encouraging well-being.

Once you have learnt Reiki, it is always with you. Reiki is a life-long friend.

'Thank you for such a wonderful day. I really enjoyed it and got so much out of it and now really feel it is a start of a path ahead.'

Investment: please get in touch
The financial investments symbolically reflect the monetary levels of exchange established by Mrs Takata: for First Degree one week's wages, for Second Degree one month's wages, for Reiki Master one year's wages. As learnt within the history of Reiki, she herself demonstrated huge commitment to Reiki by making the financial decision to sell her house in order to be able to study with Dr Hayashi in Japan.

The Reiki Lineage

Reiki is a form of healing and spiritual awakening, passed on from one person to another via initiations (or attunements), teachings, and practice.
Picture

Dr Mikao Usui

It was Dr Mikao Usui who received and brought Usui Shiki Ryoho Reiki into use in Japan in the late 19th century, devoting his life to its practice and teaching from that point on. He initiated Dr Chujiro Hayashi, and named him as his successor.

Dr Chujiro Hayashi

Dr Hayashi opened up clinics and developed the teaching of Reiki. His work came to the attention of Mrs Hawayo Takata, who insisted on being trained by him, although she was a westerner, being an American citizen.

Mrs Hawayo Takata

Before his own passing, Dr Hayashi initiated Mrs Takata as Reiki Master, granting her the role of purveyor of the knowledge of Reiki in the West, via her home in Hawaii.

Phyllis Lei Furumoto

Mrs Takata initiated 22 masters before her passing in 1980, including her grandaughter and student, Phyllis Lei Furumoto. Phyllis was recognised as the lineage bearer of Usui Shiki Ryoho, and has provided clear guidance for the continued teaching and practice of this simple method as it has spread across the globe.

Elspeth Walker

J. Samantha Forrest
I received First Degree Reiki from Elspeth Walker in 1998, I later completed Second Degree Reiki, and completed Reiki Master Training with her in 2000. Elspeth had received Reiki I and Reiki II from Richard Paterson, and was trained as a Reiki Master by Debbie Fleet.

I later decided to revisit Second Degree Reiki with Tripuri Dunne (Dr Usui - Dr Hayashi - Mrs Takata - Wanja Twan - Krishni Borang) in 2004, and was an active member in the Reiki circle of her south-west London students.

My understanding, perception and connection to Reiki, along with my spiritual development, have been inspired by both teachers.

I have attended workshops and retreats led by Paul Mitchell, Wanja Twan and Rick Bockner, three of the 22 masters initiated by Mrs Takata.

I teach in the spirit of Usui Shiki Ryoho, and in the fellowship of the Angels.
